DAY TWO (Unreality)

Ugly.  So plain, like an unwrapped box.  Have you ever torn off the wrapping paper, to reveal a box with labels that blare something like “Frozen Meatballs”, but of course you knew it wasn’t frozen meatballs (you hoped!)  You lift the lid and gasp!

Like looking out on a dark night, to find the world unexpectedly flooded with light.  Unreal.  Bright, sparkling beauty.  People gaping.

Surprise!!  That plain, ugly hole… cradles the Holy.

(The words on the candle holder:  “Christ, the Light of the World”.)

Go for an evening walk and look at the stars, or the Christmas lights.

The Mom really enjoyed her walk; since they’ve been working out at the fitness club, and the sidewalks have been dangerous with slippery spots, they haven’t been out for a walk for a looong time!  A lot of the lights people put up around here are kind of garish, but others are nicely done.  It’s obvious that The Mom is not the only one who can’t decide which kind/colour of lights she likes the best–several houses have 3 or 4 different ones, that don’t look too bad when they’re properly spaced.
