So the Facebook status says. It has to do with determining to be absolutely "scrupulous" about not eating high-calorie things, and then taking The Student back to Rez, and out for supper, and he talks her into having the Banana Frost Pie. That’s how he thanks her for helping him learn the way to his next class, and vacuuming his room! (Sure, blame it on someone else, right?)
She found it rather nice though, to see how his Other Girl (the Sweet One), was so disappointed that she wasn’t going to see him until after 9 pm–not, understand, taking pleasure in her disappointment; rather taking pleasure in seeing proof that she treasures him! How blessed he is to have someone who cares for him so, living in the same building! (She hadn’t seen him all weekend, after all. They should have thought to ask her to come to supper, but they hadn’t even been up to the room yet.) Also cute to see how The Student is quite diligent about using mouthwash often… (ahem!) :)
It’s amazing how often The Mom has these "downfalls"–going against what she’s determined (losing weight)… and constantly "starting again". Today she was easily cheered because of what’s on her agenda for the day: cleaning up the kitchen junk! Woohoo!!
Now, in case you are "down in the dumps", here is a medley of Psalms for you. Psalms are great mood-things.
from Psalm 65, 66
"Silence is praise to you, Zion-dwelling God,
And also obedience. You hear the prayer in it all.
We all arrive at your doorstep sooner
or later, loaded with guilt,
Our sins too much for us—
but you get rid of them once and for all.
All your salvation wonders
are on display in your trophy room.
Dawn and dusk take turns
calling, ‘Come and worship.’
Take a good look at God’s wonders—
they’ll take your breath away.
Bless our God, O peoples!
Give him a thunderous welcome!
Didn’t he set us on the road to life?
Didn’t he keep us out of the ditch?
He trained us first,
passed us like silver through refining fires,
Brought us into hardscrabble country,
pushed us to our very limit,
Road-tested us inside and out,
took us to hell and back;
Finally he brought us
to this well-watered place."
