We read some interesting proverbs this morning! First of all:
"Just as a door turns on its hinges,
so a lazybones turns back over in bed."
This was ALMOST The Mom, having had another troublesome night (catching Sam’s cold, perhaps)–but she did drag herself out of bed to tread the mill–YAY FOR HER!!
Now this, for all the recent trick-or-treaters:
"When you’re given a box of candy, don’t gulp it all down;
eat too much chocolate and you’ll make yourself sick;
And when you find a friend, don’t outwear your welcome;
show up at all hours and he’ll soon get fed up."
(Proverbs 25:16, 17) (Isn’t that an interesting comparison, an overbearing friend like too much candy?:))
And this: "It’s not smart to stuff yourself with sweets,
nor is glory piled on glory good for you." (Proverbs 25:27)
(Does that get your imagination going?)
Now, lest you feel we’re, well, going on and on…
"Patient persistence pierces through indifference;
gentle speech breaks down rigid defenses." (Proverbs 25:15)
Walk to Rivendell: For our 10th day we’ve gone 16 miles, for a total of 179 since we left Bag End.
