The Twelfth Day of Christmas

Our word last year was "escape", thinking of Mary and Joseph escaping to Egypt (again), plus it was the last couple of days of the holidays.  Today, we can just hear all the groaning around our "world", as people drag themselves out of bed for the first day back to work.  The Escape is over–it’s now time to get back to the Grind!  Unless you’re like The Dad, who has such a terrible cold that he cannot work.  (We’ve never seen him so sick!)

The Mom doesn’t really feel like starting back to her work, but just start… once you get going, you’ll find some ambition leaking in.  Some people of course, are just "hungry for more"–more vacation, more Christmas treats, etc….

"Why is everyone hungry for more? ‘More, more,’ they say.
‘More, more.’
I have God’s more-than-enough,
More joy in one ordinary day
Than they get in all their shopping sprees.
At day’s end I’m ready for sound sleep,
For you, GOD, have put my life back together."
(from Psalm 4)

Yes, just think of that particular advantage of getting back to your hard-working routine:  a better sleep at the end of the day!  Plus, if you take notice of all the little joys/blessings you have, it should be easy enough to see that there is "more joy in one ordinary day"…

Yay, God!
