Tenth Day of Christmas

I’m not sure how many of these there are, but we must have done this with Sam for about 10 years when he was little:

And if it wasn’t giving to the Angel Tree (you pick a prisoner’s child anonymously and buy small gifts for him/her), it was Operation Shoebox, which I’m sure you’ve all heard of. The Angel Tree ministry gave out these pins as a thank you. Some of them were green, and some were little round pins. It was always such fun to do!

Speaking of gifts, I should include one more Christmas note for myself. I’m not totally sure this is the first year this happened, but on Christmas morning there were not really any big surprises under the tree, nor even any big gifts, as in other years. Of course it didn’t matter at all. The whole fun of Christmas is in the preparation for it, and then the time spent with family–and lets admit it–all the goodies you get to eat!!

To me though, and I’m sure to a lot of people, the wonderful thing about Christmas gifts is in the giving. The anticipation, not of opening your own, but of seeing the joy when someone opens what you gave them!

Pretty sure I’ve shared this verse before, but you know it has to go here again:

“Every desirable and beneficial gift comes out of heaven. The gifts are rivers of light cascading down from the Father of Light. There is nothing deceitful in God, nothing two-faced, nothing fickle.” (James 1:17)
