“There’s awesome power in a focused life. Diffused light doesn’t have much of an effect on what it touches. But when you focus light — like the sun’s light through a magnifying glass — you can light a piece of paper or grass on fire. If you can focus it even more, it becomes a laser. A laser can cut through steel and destroy cancer.” (RW)
“Good planning and hard work lead to prosperity, but hasty shortcuts lead to poverty.” (Proverbs 21:5)
Sometimes the “hard work” part is avoiding “hasty shortcuts”! In other words, have patience… maybe set tiny goals, that can be met sooner and help you work your way towards that larger goal for the year.
It’s always fun to set some new goals… mine are starting to be more and more the same each year, with daily things like getting some fresh fruit, some exercise, and the proper amount of sleep; and longer-range ones like not gaining too much weight. Like that old cliche (can’t get that accent!)–“variety is the spice of life”… At least, even if the goals don’t change too much, there are different types/programs of exercise that I can do!
