There’s been a sort of obsession with food in this house lately… in fact, these past few months, it’s been “maybe it was such & such that made you sick”, or “it must have been that…”; and “oh yes, lots of vitamins—that’s the answer!” or “a protein drink, that should do it!” Then the poor guy (The Boy) takes lots of vitamins and feels worse… so they come up with another “sure answer”, and that doesn’t seem to work either… No wonder they are so hesitant to try another new diet…
Anyway, in our reading this morning (from John 4)—
“In the meantime, the disciples pressed him, “Rabbi, eat. Aren’t you going to eat?”
He told them, “I have food to eat you know nothing about.”
The disciples were puzzled. “Who could have brought him food?”
Jesus said, “The food that keeps me going is that I do the will of the One who sent me, finishing the work he started. “
That sort of corroborates what The Mom has been thinking lately: that man really knows nothing about this complicated thing we call our bodies, it just *doesn’t matter* what man says, it only matters what the Original Manufacturer says. And His leading goes moment by moment, day by day.
The reading goes on to talk about the harvest. “Take a good look at what’s right in front of you.” So one need only go on the knowledge that’s in front of one right now.
“God is sheer being itself–Spirit. Those who worship him must do it out of their very being, their spirits, their true selves, in adoration.” John 4:24
(Just remember that Jesus was not saying we should think *only* of our spirit, and forget about the body. Remember how He cared for the body as well: concerned about feeding the thousands, and of course healing many.)
Aren’t we waxing philosophical today!
For The Mom, today is another one in that fun game where you figure out the puzzle of which thing to do first, and look forward with interest to see which things get done! Oh, and more signs of Spring: the lawn was mowed (just before the rain) for the first time yesterday, and the Forget-me-nots are budding!!
