Some of the trees had spots of orange on them, like someone had splashed some paint here and there; and then it looked like a small light bulb shining in certain places. Finally, we realized the sun was piercing through an eastern cloud-bank!
“I look up at your macro-skies, dark and enormous,
your handmade sky-jewelry,
Moon and stars mounted in their settings.
Then I look at my micro-self and wonder,
Why do you bother with us?
Why take a second look our way?
Yet we’ve so narrowly missed being gods,
bright with Eden’s dawn light.
You put us in charge of your handcrafted world,
repeated to us your Genesis-charge,
Made us lords of sheep and cattle,
even animals out in the wild,
Birds flying and fish swimming,
whales singing in the ocean deeps.
GOD, brilliant Lord,
your name echoes around the world.”
(from Psalm 8)
Now, about this next vacation coming up, “They” have decided to change it to go from Sunday to Sunday instead of Saturday to Saturday–all because of wanting to bring Certain Reading Material with them. The guilty part is, just because of this Reading Material, they’ll be missing church! I suppose they’ll just have to be sure and attend the service that’s held in the campground. After all, how could they possibly go on a reading holiday, and not bring IT with them? (They leave July 22nd… so now you know what I’m talking about!)
Another reading from this morning that goes with The Mom’s activities theses days:
“Don’t just do what you have to do to get by, but work heartily, as Christ’s servants doing what God wants you to do. And work with a smile on your face, always keeping in mind that no matter who happens to be giving the orders, you’re really serving God.” (Eph. 6:6-7)
