Now it’s that fun game of figuring out the right order for the “things to do” list! I got MY job done: haven’t stopped cuddling & purring everyone since they got home yesterday, until The Mom finally shooed me away this morning. But now she’s trying to decide if she should do the quixotic thing and put off the menu/grocery list until she has some birthday cards (and such-like) ready to mail; and has called some troubled friends, and family members, to see how they are.
Maybe the verse from our reading this morning will help her:
“I gave up all that inferior stuff so I could know Christ personally, experience his resurrection power, be a partner in his suffering, and go all the way with him to death itself.” (Philipians 3:10)
Well… didn’t mean AT ALL, that menu/grocery list stuff is “inferior”! NOR that one should “go all the way.. to death” by starving, since there are no groceries in the house! (Oh dear, that didn’t work very well, did it?) We were just thinking about the “resurrection power” part, and perhaps the “suffering”–when it might mean that you have to do some things late into the evening because your time was taken up with those other (‘quixotic’) things.
So there’s a lesson in interpreting, for you! :)
