Words that make… no words

As much as we’ve been reading through these Old Testament books of the prophets and just wishing they’d soon be done already, this morning something kind of "leaked inside", leaked from the Words into the Heart. You see, when it says they "lived in the lap of luxury" and "ignored the oppressed and the poor"–doesn’t that sound rather like us North Americans, sometimes? (Many times!)  And this sin was so disgusting to God… this is talking about Sodom! (You know that history!)

He goes on to say that Israel is much worse than her "sisters", Sodom and Samaria–which must have been VERY upsetting for them to hear. Then comes, after all the lists of judgment (in the same chapter mind you, Ezekiel 16):  "…I’ll make a new covenant with you that will last forever… when I make atonement for you, make everything right after all you’ve done, it will leave you speechless."  Fade to scenes from The Passion…

Yeah. speechless.
