Back to the disciplines!

Wow, such a fitting reading again this morning! Because this family is all determined to get going on the exercise again, after our long, sinful holiday. I’m sure you know what I mean by “sinful”.

Selwyn Hughes, in his mini-series on dealing with stress, says it’s important not to miss the fact that being physically active is of great benefit for this. He calls it something like a “lowly detail”, but says that God does lead in the lowly details. Our body being the temple of God and all that. He even sites the study done on rats, that showed how they died from stress if they weren’t physically fit, but all survived under the same conditions, when they were fit. (Different rats, obviously. :P)

The key verse though, serves to keep a balance: “Workouts in the gymnasium are useful, but a disciplined life in God is far more so, making you fit both today and forever.” (1 Timothy 4:8)

Meanwhile, I’m beginning to get caught up on things… weeding done, laundry, 4-wk dust swept, etc. The lavender I sheered down before we left has flourished all the more! And my Elephant Ears finally produced a lovely sunflower-like stem of blooms, which I was delightfully surprised to find have a wonderful fragrance!

Still working on the fruit flies that gathered & multiplied while we were gone. They gather about the paper cones leading into the vinegar (can’t find their way in?), and I grab the RAID.

Tomorrow’s busy day just got even busier though, since the microwave broke. Can’t survive without my microwave oven!
