If it’s not working out, it’s not the end…

Isn’t it great to have another beautiful day! Hard to believe that about a week or so ago, I was into my slippers and warm housecoat, thinking Fall was here for sure! Whenever something’s bothering me, if I just take some moments to think about creation/nature, including the One behind it all, it just calms me right down.

The other day I read something interesting about optimists. A guy who survived eight years as a prisoner of war, said that it was the optimists who didn’t make it. He always knew he’d get out in the end, but he didn’t keep saying “maybe today”.

Real courage embraces the twin realities of current difficulty and ultimate triumph. Yes, life stinks. But it won’t forever. As one of my friends likes to say, “Everything will work out in the end. If it’s not working out, it’s not the end.”

Though the church is winnowed down like Gideon’s army, though God’s earth is buffeted by climate changes and bloodied by misfortune, though creation itself seems stranded on the Arctic seas, don’t overreact. “Be still in the presence of the Lord, and wait patiently for him to act. Don’t worry about evil people who prosper or fret about their wicked schemes” (Ps. 37:7 NLT). (Upwords, Max Lucado)

I also feel like sharing my daily verse email, and praying the prayer that it comes with:

TODAY’S VERSE: Matthew 6:33 (“Seek first the kingdom of God…”)

Thoughts on today’s verse
Seek — pursue relentlessly — God’s Lordship over your life and the righteousness it demands in your daily life. What you pursue is all temporary; only God and his Kingdom remain. In the process, you will find that the God who gives you his Kingdom and righteousness also will bless you with the things that you need in this life

Holy Lord, only in you do I find what satisfies my soul’s desires. The things that have captured my eye are boring after only a short while. The artificial things I have pursued, all of my addictive pursuits, have left me empty and enslaved. I find hope and help only in you. Please be near to love, correct, discipline, lead, and mold me to your glory. In Jesus name I pray. Amen.
