Now’s your chance!!

“If anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; the old has gone, the new has come!” (2 Cor. 5:17)

Use today to review your year, and to decide on any changes that you need to make. But remember–only God can make you new inside… that’s why we always have such trouble keeping promises, even ones we make to ourselves. In fact, I don’t think it’s actually Biblical to make Resolutions–at least not the kind where you “vow” you’re going to do it… think of Jesus saying “Let your yea be yea and your nay be nay”, plus the verse that says something like “Who are you to say you’ll go here and there and do this or that tomorrow or next week–you have no idea what will happen, you should say ‘If it be God’s will…‘”

It makes life exciting! Because you have no idea what will happen. That could actually be fearful, if you didn’t believe that God loves you and has it all under control. So as you make plans for the new year, give them all to him. For God “grants the desires of your heart” when you “fear” him. (Sorry, all kinds of scripture here that I don’t have references for!)

Now, for this Eighth Day of Christmas–

You see here 6 bells (one hidden in the branches upper right), but there are actually EIGHT: one more hanging on a cupboard door, and another round one made into a necklace. These six are right at my feet, so that whenever I put up the footrest on my chair, I make them jingle. The first week of Advent, only the smaller bells are there; the second week the sound of the cupboard door jingling open (for coffee cups) is added; the third week the larger round bells are added to the tree here; and for the last week of Advent I go around wearing that bell-necklace. I know, I’m eccentric. :)
