“Lucky” me! I gathered a few things yesterday, for my One Word (which is “plan”). We were at my cousin’s church-in-the-country, a small-ish place bursting with young families.
First of all, their “Memory Verse of the Month”:
“From one man he made every nation of men, that they should inhabit the whole earth; and he determined the times set for them and the exact places where they should live. God did this so that men would seek him and perhaps reach out for him and find him, though he is not far from each one of us.” (Acts 17:26-27)
These two verses are just packed full of wonderful truths! The reference to “every nation of men” is such a clear “hook” to the Perspectives course we took. The fact that “he determined the times set” is a reminder of the section that showed how wonderfully planned history has been, by God! And of course, THAT is a reminder of the fact that God has a place for l’il ol’ me, in his plan. Next, these verses show that the whole thing, the whole plan, is all for the purpose of getting men to seek “and perhaps” reach out for God… oh the longing God has for his created ones, for their un-forced love! Finally, once you do begin to reach out for him, you won’t have much trouble finding him because “he is not far from each one of us.” OH, and look at that–“each one of us”! This great far-reaching plan actually comes down to “each one of us”… to you personally, to me personally… WOW God!! <3
So that’s all just from the memory verses. The sermon was based on 1 Peter 2:9 (hover your mouse to see it), where it talks about us being “chosen before the foundation of the world”–well-planned or what! And what we are chosen FOR is a royal priesthood and a holy nation! The meaning of the word “holy” is “set apart for a purpose”. So there you go–more planning.
Go forth today and enjoy your unique purpose!
